Integers are whole numbers which involves all the natural numbers. There are two kinds of integers: Negative integers and positive integers. 0 is neither a negative integer nor a positive integer.
Positive and Negative Integers
Positive integers are all the whole numbers greater than zero: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,... . Negative integers are all the whole numbers smaller than zero: -1,-2,-3,-4,-5,-6,-7,... . We don't consider zero as a negative or a positive number. For each positive integer, there is also a negative integer, and these integers are called opposites. For example, 7 is the opposite of -7, -100 is the opposite of 100. Zero doesn't have an opposite number because it's neither an opposite nor a negative number. If an integer is greater than zero, then its sign is positive. But if an integer is less than zero, then its sign is negative. So when we want to find out if an integer is negative or positive we will look if that integer is less or more than zero.
