EXPONENTS In ab, a is the base and b is the power(exponent).

Exponent is the number of times a number(base) is multiplied by itself.The number we multiply is called base which is a in this case and the number of times we multiply it is called exponent whicj is b in this case. Exponents are used in working with very small and large numbers. To express, multiply devide large and small numbers we use exponents. For example; 177147 x 19683 = 3486784401
instead of doing this and writing many numbers, we use exponents.
